Bright Blue: Cobalt Tote

Hello, hello! I’m back from my adventure with a new illustration.

Did I (brainlessly) forget to mention where I went?? VNg and I went on a five day cruise to Bermuda! Wee!!

This was my first time cruising and I definitely had an unforgettable experience.

The first few days were choppy; we got stuck in the cold front that swept across the east coast. But, a few clouds couldn’t hide the clear waters and gorgeous colors of Bermuda.

What a beautiful (and expensive) place!

I wanted an easy bag to serve for poolside and exploration duties. I thought this super colorful polyurethane tote (a cheap thrill from Seoul) would be perfect – the material is easy to clean and it’s lightweight. Plus I love the texture and pop color interior.

Sadly – a couple of days before the cruise – the strap kept popping out of its closure and falling off my arm. So – no go.

I’m sure I can easily remedy this — I’ll keep you posted!

Illustration: A Clear Picture

The dictionary defines “illustration” as a depiction, something intended for explanation, the act of illuminating, or the act of clarifying or explaining. It’s ironic that it’s my job to figure out the best way to share an idea with people… sometimes I struggle just explaining things to myself.

This weekend I had an amazing time catching up with close friends I rarely see. (Bi-coastal relationships don’t seem bad thanks to gchat, skype, and imessage.) But, spending real time together puts the importance of (actual) face time into perspective.

Caring for Your Clothes

Shopping for throwaway fashion can be a lot of fun. But, sometimes you need quality. And, when spending a lot; you want it to last. Just like getting your oil changed or your hair trimmed, clothes maintenance is something you can do regularly to keep old faves looking new.

lint roller, sweater shaver, wrapping paper, tissue, packing paper, dust bag, sweater comb - all from Amazon for under $10

While most of these things are self-explanatory – I find the most valuable item is my sweater shaver (getting rid of pesky pills).

When using the electric shaver, be sure to use a sturdy flat surface and make sure the sweater is flat. (Wrinkles and kinks can lead to holes.) Don’t use the shaver on tissue knits, it will definitely rip them. Press gently and be patient. And, don’t over-shave. It can be fun and addictive… but you don’t want a bald spot!

I Love My: Low-Wedge Sandals

Sticking to my shopping freeze has been difficult, especially with the temperatures ramping up and new Spring merch dropping everywhere. Luckily, I’m blessed with a sweet and understanding mom who just couldn’t let a size 5 shoe (on sale) go to waste.

I was with my parents on a Target run (dangerous, I know!) My mom and I inevitably end up in the shoe section. My dad’s in the background saying, “Don’t you have enough shoes?”  Nonsense, Dad.  Nonsense.

What I Wore: Bold Black Stripes & Crocodile Clutch

Happy Monday, everybody! I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. (If you’re into that stuff.) Anyhow, I’m back from South Jersey with a new fashion illustration and a bit about the Borgata in Atlantic City; thanks for viewing!

Last weekend VNg and I went to AC with two sets of couple friends. (Yay, triple date weekend!)  Our friends had a deal at Borgata so that’s where we stayed and played.  Generally, I’m not a huge fan because I ALWAYS lose… and I can’t stand smelling like smoke after.  But, dinner at Bobby Flay’s restaurant was well worth it!
