Hello, hello (from Seoul!) You all know I’ve had spring on the brain and fortunately my trip to Seoul presented the perfect shopping opportunity. Today’s illustration: my top five “must have” items for Spring 2013–what I’m on the prowl for while shopping in Korea.
leather jacket $$$ Saks Fifth Avenue or $$ asos, printed shorts $$$ Net-a-Porter or $ Pacific Sunwear, candy colored bag $$$$ Proenza Schouler or $$ asos, bold striped blouse Forever21, color block low wedge sandal Sam Edelman
I return will be returning to Hong Kong in two days; it feels like my time in Seoul has flown!! During college I was lucky enough to study in Seoul for six months. In 2011, I returned for about a month. This is my third trip and I still love visiting Korea!!
Hi! It’s yet another mobile post; go easy on me! Honestly, I need to get a better grip on mobile technology…
I loved visiting Hong Kong! It is a place where food and fashion are everywhere you look; what’s not to like? It’s busy, so dressing comfortably is key!
Another mobile post – please don’t scrutinize! I’m having a blast in Seoul – visiting friends, eating delicious food, shopping, sightseeing… But I didn’t want to leave you guys without a I fashion illustration! Here is my latest fave purchase! Can you tell I’m dying for Spring?!
AX Paris shirt dress asos, Hart platform sandal Lauren Ralph Lauren
Hope you like it!
I’m on my phone in the HK airport – so please forgive me if this isn’t the best writing.
Artemis Etched Earrings & Marcela Earrings Tom’s Accessories
When it comes to jewelry, I’m pretty timid. I feel self conscious about choosing pieces that are overbearing or inappropriate.
So, when Tom’s Accessories asked about a collaboration – I was hesitant. I’ve never been the type to shop specifically for jewelry. But, I loved the site and felt it would be a great way to push me out of my comfort zone.
So… you had to know I was going to illustrate from J.Crew’s Fall 2013 show. (Sadly) a large portion of my paycheck goes right to the J.Crew bottom line. (You’re welcome, stockholders. Wait – I don’t think J.Crew is traded otherwise I would be all over that.)
J.Crew peeps are just doing everything right!! It’s so effortless and stylish. I love the bold colors, the awesome pattern mixing, and the great textures. Plus, all the accessories and soft goods are SPOT on!! The J.Crew girl is just so cool and chic; well… I just want to be her!
I know I need to be posting about my trip; Hong Kong is an awesome place. There’s gorgeous views and delicious food everywhere. I’ve been updating on Instagram and have some good ideas for some posts; so check back soon!
Hope you liked these fashion illustrations. (I’m messing around with new brushes and textures on Photoshop… you know – just having fun!)
Thanks for viewing! <3
I have a major crush on Kate Spade right now. (I’m obsessed with the accessories – bows, hearts, & more bows!) And, I can’t get enough of the Fall ’13 line. I love the retro vibe and the clean punchy graphics. Plus, they make for great fashion illustrations!
Freaking donut sweater!? What’s not to love?? Basically, I want all of it.
Stay tuned for more from New York Fashion Week. <3 Thanks for viewing!
I left my apartment no less than five minutes before receiving the first of many compliments on my new Coach Legacy Perforated Penny bag. So, I just had to turn my new purchase into a pretty handbag illustration.
perforated leather penny shoulder purse Coach
Honestly – I never thought much of Coach. To me, the brand evoked images of over monogrammed jacquards or mean girls in high school.
This was challenged a year ago when my coworker boasted the condition of her five-year-old satchel. She said “old” Coach bags had heritage, quality, and classic design. The conversation stayed in the back of my mind…
I recently had a request for an affordable DIY valentine; what a great idea!! (Vday is so close to last year’s holidays which can add up. I’m definitely on a budget after gifting & travel.) So, today’s post is a fun and easy project that is a great gift (for a guy or gal!)
(As a bonus, I also made this easy to print card – just click the image below to download the file. You can print on regular letter sized paper and fold it into quarters.)
VNg & I enjoy cozying up to share hot chocolate; he especially loves all the marshmallows he can get. (Btw did you know they have heart-shaped marshmallows?! Perfect for this project!!) Anyway, he prefers gifts we can experience together (rather than something purely material.) So, I love the idea of making something unique and personalized that you can share. Your Valentine will really appreciate the time and thought you put into this gift.
This project is inspired by Kate Spade mugs I sketched a few weeks ago. They sold out pretty quickly… but I was thrilled to find they can be easily duplicated (for a fraction of the price!)
I think the cost of this project should be less than $25 depending on how you approach it. (Basically, don’t count on staying under $25 if you’re gonna buy your mugs from, say, West Elm.) However, I found one for $9. I also really like the idea of using mugs (since they’re typically solid colors. And, I found a set of two for $16.) Grab a gold Sharpie for about $2 (or two for $4.) Be sure to buy the “paint” marker version. Add the cost of the cocoa powder mix and you are good to go.
As promised, here is my gift guide for ladies. In case you already have the perfect gift – I also included less expensive items; shower her with lots of lovely trinkets! A lot of these are things I loved receiving… I hope she will too!
fresh sugar lip balm $ Sephora, L’Occitane hand cream $ Sephora, heart ring $$$$ Shopbop, locked in bangle $$ Kate Spade, heart studs $$ Shopbop or $ Kate Spade
I need to have lip balm and hand lotion in my bag. Fresh sugar is SPF15, all natural, and feels great. It is rated #1 again and again (for a good reason.) It’s nice to get these little things as gifts because I end up buying them repeatedly. V.Ng bought me these heart earrings last year and I love them so much. I wear them almost every day! They even say “be mine” – perfect for Valentine’s Day!
pretty coin purse $$$ Comme des Garcons, heart iphone cover $ DVF, gold arrow cuff bangle $$ Need Supply or $ Macy’s, pretty bevel ring $$ Shopbop
A girl can never go wrong with a good coin purse. Small accessories are risk-free items that are fun to give and receive. I like changing up my phone cover every now and then; she’ll probably love having something to constantly remind her of your feelings.
the mini Rider bag $$$ Shopbop, pretty gold bow necklace $$ Kate Spade or $$$ Shopbop, gold finish Gramercy watch $$$ Kate Spade, Dior lip polish $ Sephora
If you’re still looking for a big ticket item – try a pretty handbag or a classy watch. This bag is a great neutral color (perfect for spring) and it’s a classic shape that she can take from work to dinner.
I hope this helps you on your quest for the perfect gift(s)!! But, hold on to that receipt just in case. (;
