Hello, hello (from Seoul!) You all know I’ve had spring on the brain and fortunately my trip to Seoul presented the perfect shopping opportunity. Today’s illustration: my top five “must have” items for Spring 2013–what I’m on the prowl for while shopping in Korea.
leather jacket $$$ Saks Fifth Avenue or $$ asos, printed shorts $$$ Net-a-Porter or $ Pacific Sunwear, candy colored bag $$$$ Proenza Schouler or $$ asos, bold striped blouse Forever21, color block low wedge sandal Sam Edelman
I return will be returning to Hong Kong in two days; it feels like my time in Seoul has flown!! During college I was lucky enough to study in Seoul for six months. In 2011, I returned for about a month. This is my third trip and I still love visiting Korea!!
It has been non-stop eating, shopping and friend-visiting!! (For Cat Cafe, Hello Kitty Cafe, and of course, food porn – check my Instagram.)
Seoul is constantly changing; it’s always surprising. ie: When I was living in here in ’05 the big thing was “frozen yogurt” (read: Red Mango/Pink Berry.) These days it seems like sweet cafes and quirky shoppes (a la Garosugil) are the style.
Seoul is my number one shopping destination! Not only does it offer the widest range of shoe styles in my (ridiculously small) size; all of the clothes seem better for petites. (I always try to pick up outerwear when I’m here.) Although, I will say the common occurrence of “free” sizing (one size fits all) kind of blows my mind. But for items like over-sized tops or elastic band skirts… it seems to work! Plus, why be picky when you’re spending less than $10?
Of course there is also an abundance of luxury shopping in Seoul, too. But when it comes to “western” name brands… I find the better deal is back home in the states.
That said, if you ever have the chance… definitely visit my “motherland.”
